Robotic surgical system developed by Intuitive Surgical was created to help with complex surgeries using a minimally invasive robotic approach.

The robot is fully operated by the physician from a console. The surgeon has hand and foot controls as well as a markedly enhanced visualization of the procedure through a high-definition 3D camera. The robot has 4 arms that are used to hold objects, scalpels, scissors, cautery instruments, miniaturized wristed instruments and an endoscopic camera.

The robot's ergonomic capabilities are designed to enhance laparoscopic procedures. State-of-the-art robotic and computer technologies scale, filter and seamlessly translate your surgeon's hand movements into precise micro-movements of the da Vinci instruments. The surgeon is looking entirely at the procedure and controls each movement with his or her hands and feet. The da Vinci system allows for superior visualization, enhanced dexterity, and greater precision for the surgeon. It allows the patient to have all benefits of a minimally invasive procedure with less pain, blood loss, and recovery time.
